Intertribal Gathering - Alaska Native Heritage Center in Anchorage

Enjoy these pictures of Alaska Natives dancing!  They are beautiful!  The beauty is watching the elders pass their traditions and culture to the young ones.

Return to Alaska

Well, we made it back to Alaska without incident.  When we arrived there was a little snow on the ground and some ice.  Decided to order pizza instead of cooking and when we opened the door to the delivery person, IT WAS SNOWING!  It continued to snow all night.  Got up this morning to go to work and it was still snowing.  I was nervous!  I have not driven in snow in more than 30 years.  I made it fine; slid a few times but no major problems.  It has snowed all day and work let us out early because "the person from Florida needs additoinal time to drive home" (this from my Executive Director).  Made it home fine.  On the other hand, my room-mate did not make it so well today.  She decided to go out to get some breakfast; walked down the hill, across the street and into the parking lot of the French Bakery where she proceeded to slip and flip!  She landed on her back and her head; knocked herself silly!  She's alright though, enjoy her pictures of the snow!
